The Public Policy Forum (“PPF”) is the result of a partnership between The Quebec City Conference and the Government of Canada. It was developed for leading LPs, GPs and government officials from North America, Europe and Asia to share their views, experience and concerns regarding public policies in support of a buoyant venture capital ecosystem to finance emerging technology companies. It is an invitation-only event building upon the international audience already developed by the Summit. It attracts keynote speakers with significant experience in designing and implementing policies related to venture capital and innovation and also renowned academics.
Dr Josh Lerner, Jacob H. Shiff Professor of Investment Banking at Harvard Business School and a world leading authority on Venture Capital and Private Equity, will present the conclusions of his new book “Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Why Public Efforts to Boost Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Have Failed—and What to Do About It” and conduct a business case on the model of Harvard Business School. Panels and presentations on strategic issues related to public policies in venture capital will be organized during the rest of the day.
At the end of the day, a convergence session will be organized with key members of the Institutional Investors Forum to discuss the conclusions of the two meetings.
The 2009 Public Policy Forum will be held on Monday, October 19, beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 5:00 pm. All guests of the Public Policy Forum are invited to the Summit, which will begin immediately thereafter (5:00 pm on Monday, October 19) and end at 6:00 pm the next day, Tuesday, October 20.
The Public Policy Forum’s purpose is to bring together global leaders experienced in the creation of a buoyant venture capital ecosystem to develop relationships, share experience and exchange ideas.
The Public Policy Forum is operated by The Quebec City Conference (http://www.quebeccityconference.com/), a non-profit organization and the leading global cross-border conference for venture capital and private equity investors investing in private technology companies and institutional investors that finance these investors. The President of the Public Policy Forum is Mr. Gilles Duruflé, an internationally recognized Canadian expert in venture capital and private equity and the Chairman is Mr. Yigal Erlich, the founding father of the Israeli venture capital industry.
